Server Error in '/Insight' Application

Question / Problem: 

Why does the above error display when attempting to log into one or more Insight applications?

Answer / Solution: 

This occurs because the path to the application is not configured as an IIS application.

To correct this problem, first open IIS and note any folders that are not configured for Insight. Your installation should look something like the following picture when Insight is properly installed:

Notice that the icons with a globe and document instead of a folder icon - those are folders configured as an IIS application. If your installation is missing one or more of these, right click on that / those folders and select Convert to Application.

It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS
