Abnormal program termination Runtime Error when accessing or creating a batch in Batch Manager

Question / Problem:

The following error message is observed when attempting to access or create a new Batch from within Batch Manager:

Runtime Error!
Program: %ProgramFiles(x86)\Kofax\CaptureSS\ServiLib\Bin\Ops.exe
abnormal program termination

Answer / Solution:

This error may be caused by an incorrect log4net.dll version placed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\CaptureSS\ServLib\Bin directory. This file may get replaced during any application updates. Kofax Capture requires the version of the log4.net.dll file to be 1.2.10.0.

Use either of the following options as a workaround:

  • Restore a log4net.dll version 1.2.10.0 from another working station.
    OR
  • Disable Kofax Reporting if not being used which is enabled by default.
    Add the following element to the \\<ServerName>\CaptureSV\Config\ACConfig.xml file:
    <ACConfig>
        ...
        <Reporting Enable="0"/>
        ...
    </ACConfig>  

    Afterwards, restart the Kofax Capture service from the Service Control Manager.
