Is it possible to remove a Custom Panel that is causing issues?

Answer / Solution:

Yes. Kofax Capture uses a set of Registry Keys to find which Custom Panels are to be loaded.

If a Custom Panel is causing issues, or simply cannot be found, it is possible to remove the Registry entry related to the panel.

Custom Panels are configured for each module, in the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Kofax Image Products\Ascent Capture\3.0\<Module_Name>\User Panels\<Custom_Name>

By removing the <Custom_Name> entry that matches the Custom Panel, the <Module_Name> module will no longer attempt to load the panel when it is launched.

It is recommended to make a backup of this Registry Key and its SubKeys and Values, so that the Custom Panel can be restored if needed.
