Question / Problem:

How can I update the User ID and/or Password for a SQL Server database configuration?

Answer / Solution:

To update the User ID and/or Password for a SQL Server database, follow the steps below:

  1. Stop the Kofax Capture service.
  2. Back up the current ACConfig.xml configuration file, typically located under the <Server Name>\CaptureSV\Config folder.
  3. Edit the ACConfig.xml file and remove the UserID and Password elements in the SQL-Server section, which starts with <SQL-Server> and ends with </SQL-Server>.
    Example:
    <SQL-Server>
        <SqlServerInstance>TEST</SqlServerInstance>
        <Database>TEST</Database>
        <AuthenticationMode>SqlServer</AuthenticationMode>
        <UserID>TEST</UserID>
        <Password>PASSWORD</Password>
    </SQL-Server>
  4. Restart the Kofax Capture service.
  5. Launch DBUtil, which will prompt for the new database login.
  6. Enter the new User ID and Password, then click OK.
