Bad Handle or Unable to Access Data with Handle error during Export

13640

QAID # 13640 Published

Question / Problem:

The Kofax Capture Text Export Connector fails intermittently with the error message:

‘MultiTiff File: Bad handle or unable to access data with handle’.

What can be causing this error and how can I troubleshoot it?

Answer / Solution:

This error, at Export-time, can be caused by other third-party software interacting with the same file(s) that Export is currently processing.

Although this error was reported while using the Kofax Capture Text Export Connector, it can potentially occur with other Export Connectors under the same conditions.

Please follow the instructions in KB 9385 to run a Process Monitor trace while reproducing the error.

Apply a filter to the trace file where the Path contains the hexadecimal number Batch ID of the Batch in question. Look for other applications or process interacting with the Batch image files.

Once an application has been identified as interacting with Batch image files, disable it and continue testing. If the error no longer occurs, you have found the source of the problem.
