Issue

How can I configure IIS 7 on 64-bit OS to enable 32-bit applications to run when setting up Kofax Capture Network Server (KCNS)?

Solution

Follow the steps below to configure IIS 7 on 64-bit OS to enable 32-bit applications to run:

  1. Start ¦ Run ¦ enter InetMgr.
  2. Select Application Pools under the Web Server name in the left window.
  3. In the Application Pools window, right-click DefaultAppPool and select Advanced Settings.
  4. Under the General section, set Enable 32-Bit Applications to True
Also make sure that .NET Framework Version is set to v2.0.
  5. Click OK to save the changes.
  6. Restart IIS 7.

Note: KCNS must run in 32-bit mode.

The following errors are observed If KCNS is installed on a 64-bit OS and not configured to allow 32-bit applications to run:

HTTP Status 500 - The server encountered an internal error
Remote Site Error when attempting to convert to a Remote Site:
