Question / Problem:

One or more KCNS Remote Sites are unable to synchronize successfully.

The Central Site ACISyymm.txt file shows an error:

The KCN Service 'http://<HOSTNAME>:2424' cannot be reached. Please contact the central site administrator for assistance.

How can I resolve this issue?

Answer / Solution:

There are a few potential causes of this error.

  1. Ensure that you can resolve the <HOSTNAME> specified in the error message by using PING or TRACERT. Additionally, verify that the correct IP address is returned.
  2. Verify there is no firewall blocking port 2424 on the station specified in the error message:
    1. From a command prompt enter: TELNET <HOSTNAME> 2424
    2. Press [Enter] at the blinking cursor.
Any error other than HTTP:/1.1 500 Server encountered an internal error indicates that port 2424 is being blocked.
  3. If DNS is able to resolve the hostname, the correct IP address is returned. and there is nothing blocking port 2424, then disable and re-enable the KCN Service.
    From a command prompt enter:
    • AcisCfg /d to disable the KCN service.
    • AcisCfg to enable the KCN service.
