Unable to resolve remote site name error uploading Batches to Central Site

Question / Problem:

I am unable to upload any Batches to the Central Site. In the RSA at the Remote Site I see the error message:

“The remote server returned an error: (601) ACIIIS: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to resolve remote site name.”.

How can I resolve this?

Answer / Solution:

This message is being sent from the Central Site. The Central Site server is unable to resolve the hostname of the station(s) where the KCN Service is running.

Verify you can access the station(s) where the KCN service is configured.

Verify that the DNS server is running and contains the correct hostname and IP address for the station(s) where the KCN service is configured.

It may be possible to work around DNS by adding an entry in the Web server’s Hosts file for each station where the KCN service is configured.

The Hosts file is located at:

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts

Once the KCNS server is able to resolve the hostname of at least one station where the KCN Service is running, the Remote Site should be able to upload Batches without this error.
