Activate option is disabled when not remoted into the PC

Question / Problem:

When attempting to activate the Kofax Capture license, the Activate option is grayed out (disabled). A remote connection is NOT being used to access the computer.

How can I resolve this issue?

Answer / Solution:

This can be caused by a problem with the hostname not being resolved. Try changing the hostname in the ACConfig.xml file to the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the license and batch notification services.

The machine name key for the computer may also need to be modified in the Registry.

The Key path would be one of the following:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kofax Image Products\Ascent Capture\3.0
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Kofax Image Products\Ascent Capture\3.0 (for a 64-bit computer).
