License Server cannot be found Verify the registry key SalLicClnt error 7011 after installing VRS 5.1 or 5.1.1 on top of an existing Capture installation

Question / Problem:

After installing Kofax VRS 5.x on top of an existing Kofax Capture installation, the Kofax Capture License Utility reports the following error:

[7011] SalLicClnt: The License Server cannot be found. Verify the registry key.

Answer / Solution:

This issue can occur if the Kofax VRS 5.x installer replaces the Registry Key value that contains the path to the Kofax Capture license service with the path to the VRS license service.

To resolve this issue:

  1. On the machine(s) where the error occurs, locate the following Key in the Windows Registry:
    • 64-bit versions of Windows:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Kofax\SALicClient\SharedLicenseServerFileUnc
    • 32-bit versions of Windows:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kofax\SALicClient\SharedLicenseServerFileUnc
  2. Change the Key value to a UNC path that points to the Config folder under the CaptureSV share.
    Example:
    \\<ServerName>\CaptureSV\Config
  3. Restart all Kofax Capture services and modules on the machine(s) where the error occurred.
