Question / Problem:

After repeated attempts to complete a manual activation of a software license, the following error message is constantly received:

[8089] Unable to activate because license is already activated on another server

What could be wrong?

Answer / Solution:

This case is an attempt to move a software license using the Temporary License Activation page with the Move Software License option.

It is essential that the MAC ID from the new machine be entered exactly as it is shown in the manual activation screen from the License Utility. Cases and colons are required. If they aren't, the Activation page will still generate a code, though it will not work.

It is possible to copy the MAC ID out of the manual activation screen to paste into the Web page.
