Question / Problem:
I am receiving the following error:
" Unable to contact the license server. License server may be down or the network may have problems. (Requested service not found)."
How can I resolve this issue?
Answer / Solution:
You may receive a
" Unable to contact the license server. License server may be down or the network may have problems. (Requested service not found)"
error message if you do not have a license service.
The license service is "bundled" onto the Ascent Capture Service service (Kofax Capture service if new installation of Kofax Capture 8.0/9.0), so to verify that you have a license service, first check that service in Services. To see what services are bundled on that service, expand the Description column.
If you do not see the license service listed, you should also check the ACConfig.xml file to verify whether or not you have a <Licensing> section.
NOTE: If there is a <Licensing> section, it should point to the machine where the License service has been installed and where you are having a problem communicating to that machine. Please refer to QAID 4289 for further troubleshooting steps.
If you do not have a <Licensing> section in the ACConfig.xml file and no Licensing service is listed on the Ascent Capture Service / Kofax Capture Service service, it can added by running:
You should then be able to verify that a <Licensing> section has been added to the ACConfig.xml file and that the Licensing service has been added to the description on the Ascent Capture Service / Kofax Capture Service service.
