Product Version Numbering System

Question / Problem:

How can I interpret the new product version numbering system for Kofax products?

Answer / Solution:

The format is as follows:

Ma.Mi.SP.FP.F.Build

Where:

  • Ma = Major version
  • Mi = Minor version
  • SP = Service Pack level
  • FP = Fix Pack level (this field is not part of all Kofax product lines)
  • F = Fixes (previously referred to as Patches) for the currently installed Fix Pack.
The requirement for this is that the next Fix Pack must include this fix.
  • Build = Build number

For Kofax Capture, this new format is implemented starting with Fix Pack 1 for Kofax Capture 9.0 Service Pack 2.

Below are some examples (not actual versions):

  • 9.0.2.0.0.1239 means that the installed version is Kofax Capture 9.0 with Service Pack 2, no Fix Packs, no Fixes. The build number is the version of the service pack (1239).
  • 9.0.2.1.0.1245 means that the installed version is Kofax Capture 9 with Service Pack 2, Fix Pack 1, no Fixes and the build number for this is 1245.
  • 9.0.2.2.1.1266 means that the installed version is Kofax Capture 9.0 with Service Pack 2, Fix Pack 2, Fix 1 for Fix Pack 2 and the build is 1266. This also implies that Fix Pack 3, when released, will have Fix 1 included in it.
