How to enable handle count in Windows Task Manager for troubleshooting Kofax Capture issues

Issue

While troubleshooting an issue with Kofax Capture or other Kofax products, it may be necessary to capture a "handle count" for running processes. In coding, a handle is a way to interact with a particular resource in the operating system.

Solution

Enable the Handle column in Task Manager's Detail tab.

1. Open Windows Task Manager.
2. Click the Details tab.
3. Right-click on one of the present column headers, such as Name or Status, and then click Select Columns.
4. In the Select Columns window, select the Handles checkbox.
5. Click OK.
6. The Handles column should now appear in Task Manager.
