Solution

Concurrent, Full Station and Remote Full Station Licenses are equivalent. Each Station License will allow up to two sessions.

Examples:

A single Standalone Remote Site is used as an example only.

The same would be true for any workstation connected to any Server, Standalone, Central Site, or Remote Site.

  • A Standalone Remote Site requires Recognition Server to run as a service and a local user to run Scan and Validation from the console. One Station License is required.
  • A Standalone Remote Site requires Recognition Server and PDF Generator to run as a service and a local user to run Scan and Validation from the console. Provided Recognition Server and PDF Generator services are configured to run as the same user, only one Station License is required.
  • A Standalone Remote Site requires Recognition Server to run as a service and several users run Scan and Validation from the console. Users do not log out of Windows; they use Fast User switching.

In this scenario, if the first user who logs into Windows leaves a Kofax Capture module running and a second user logs in via Fast User Switching, a second Station license will be required. The same would be true if using Remote Desktop (RDP) versus Fast User Switching.

To help troubleshoot insufficient station license errors, use Task Manager to view the running processes for all users. Add the Session ID column from the View ¦ Select Columns menu.
