Device is not reserved error when opening Scan module

Question / Problem:

I am getting a "Device is not reserved" error when opening the Scan module. How do I resolve this?

Answer / Solution:

This error will be generated if the source is already "taken" by another module such as the Administration module, or other programs, such as VCDemo.

Ensure that those are closed and you should be able to open the Scan module (if the source in use was the cause of the error.)
