Question / Problem:

Kofax Capture services will not start and throw the error message

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

The "Check for publisher's certificate revocation" and "Check for server certificate revocation" options have been disabled on the Advanced tab of the Internet Explorer options per KB 17994, but the error still occurs.

Is there another fix for this error?

Answer / Solution:

The Internet options for Internet Explorer are user-specific, so when disabling the two options noted in KB 17994, first log on to the computer with the account that is being used to run the services, and then disable the options.
