7011 SALicClnt License Server Cannot Be Found Verify Registry Key

Issue

I receive the following error message when trying to open the Kofax Capture License Utility:

[7011] SALicClnt: The License Server cannot be found. Verify the registry key.

 

Cause

In some cases, you may see this error when the client machine is not on the EXACT same Kofax Capture version as the server.

Another cause is that the client machine was once pointed at a different Kofax server and that server is no longer active or available.

 

Solution

For the cases where the client machine is not matching Kofax Capture versions, please upgrade or downgrade, the Kofax Capture version to match the Kofax Capture server version exactly.

 

In other cases, the issue may be related to incorrect Registry settings as described below:

This problem was seen if the HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Kofax\SALicClient Registry Key (with the SharedLicenseServerFileUnc entry)'s Value (path to ACConfig.xml) does not exist or points to an incorrect location.

This Registry Key is located in:

  • Windows 64-bit Systems

    • HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Kofax\SALicClient

  • Windows 32-bit Systems

    • HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Kofax\SALicClient

Key Name:

SharedLicenseServerFileUnc(String Value)

The Value for this Key is:

\\KCServerName\CaptureSV\Config

After creating or changing this Key or correcting this Value, this problem should be resolved.
