Issue

When installing Kofax Capture the bellow error is seen:

"Reboot Pending: You must reboot your system to continue the Capture installation"

How can I resolve this issue?

This is a very uncommon error but that may occur if a Kofax Capture installation is not properly completed. When a new installation is started, you may receive this error message.

In order to bypass this error, you should:

  1. Create a complete backup of your system.
  2. Locate the following Registry Key:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
  3. Delete any PendingFileRenameOperations Values in this Key.
  4. You may also need to check for and remove Pending File Rename Operations in the following Registry Keys:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
  5. If the problem is not resolved by doing this, then:
    1. Either clear out the TEMP and TMP folders specified in the User Environment Variables
      OR
      Change the User's TEMP and TMP Environment Variables to point to a new (empty) temp folder with full permission.
    2. Check for the existence of a folder named "$!$!$!$!" in the root folder, as well.

Afterwards you can start the installation again and the error message should no longer appear.
