Issue

Receiving the following error when trying to start the Kofax Capture PDF Generator, Export or Recognition Server service: "Error [1053] Service did not respond."

Some times the following error message can be displayed: "[1053] Failed to respond in a timely fashion."

Solution

1. Edit the existing ApplicationName.exe.config file in the Kofax Capture \bin folder, where ApplicationName is the name of the unattended module being installed as a service. For example: KfxPDF.exe.config.

2. Add the following three lines before the last line in the file:

<configuration>

    <runtime>

        <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false"/>

    </runtime>

</configuration>

3. Save the changes to the file. 

4. Verify that the service starts.
