Troubleshooting - TimeLogger

Issue

TimeLogger tool is useful for troubleshooting performance or slowness related issues.

Cause

Most performance or slowness issues are caused due to environmental issues or network slowness.

Solution

This tool, when used will create a TXT file in the specified location and then write 10,000 date/time stamps within the file. This is a basic tool used to help indicate if a network is slow or not. Typical times to complete are about 5 seconds to a Local C:\TEMP folder and about 20 seconds to a Local Share. From a Client machine, I would expect to see about 45-60 seconds to the CaptureSV share on the same quick network.

Please run this tool from the machine having performance or slowness issue.

• TIMELOGGER C:\temp
• TIMELOGGER \\servername\CaptureSV
