Question / Problem:
The following error message appears when attempting to open any module:
"The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))"
Answer / Solution:
Check to see if User Profiles is enabled and, if so, if linked users are being used. If so, then try disabling User Profiles and then test a module and/or try using a non-linked user and try opening a module.
It has been found that if DNS name resolution is not functioning to resolve the name of the Domain Controller machine where Active Directory is implemented, then this error will result.
tracert to the domain controller computer will show if DNS is functioning correctly. Correcting DNS functionality should resolve this error.
Another cause can be related to a local user logging on to the machine instead of a domain user. When a Capture module is launched, a request is passed to validate the local user against Active Directory. This is generally not permitted in Windows networks, and could result in this RPC error. To resolve this, log on to the machine using an authorized domain account.
