Component tabctl32.ocx or dependencies not correctly registered when using Connector with Capture

13555  ***INTERNAL ONLY***
Question / Problem:

I have installed Kofax Capture. I have also installed a supported Export Connector that was included with the Capture ISO file, (IBM Content Manager for iSeries 5.1 & v5.3, FileNet Content Manager - 3.5, Documentum 6.0 - 6.5, etc.).

When I attempt to open the Export Connector Setup in the Administration module, I receive an error message such as:

Component 'tabctl32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Answer / Solution:

The installer for Kofax Capture does not install the VB6 components required by many of the Export Connectors.

Please run InstallComponents.msi to install and register the required VB6 components.

Otherwise, you can manually install and register the VB6 components by following the procedure below:

After extracting the Kofax Capture ISO file, open the following folder:

Export Connectors\VB6 Components

There will be three OCX files located there:

  • mscomct2.ocx
  • MSCOMCTL.OCX
  • TABCTL32.OCX
  1. Copy all three of these files into the Windows\System32 folder.
  2. From the Start menu, select Run. then enter CMD to open a command window.
  3. Navigate to the Windows\System32 folder.
  4. Register each OCX file using the following command:
    regsvr32 <OCX_Name>
For example: regsvr32 tabctl32.ocx.
Note: For 64-bit operating systems (Windows 2003 R2, Windows 2008 R2, etc.), RegSvr32 needs to be executed in the Command window under administrative access. This is accomplished by right-clicking the Command Line utility and selecting “Run as…”. Then select either Administrator, or an account that is an Administrator on the machine.
