Migrate Shortcut and Destination settings from one KFS 4.1 environment to another

Question / Problem:

Is it possible to migrate Shortcut and Destination settings from one Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 environment to another?

Answer / Solution:

Yes.  The ability to export KFS Shortcuts and Destination settings from one KFS environment and import them into another KFS environment was introduced in KFS 4.1.0.3 (KFS 4.1, Fix Pack 3).  Upgrading to KFS 4.1.0.3 or higher on both the source and target KFS environments will provide the KFS Administrator with this functionality.

To export Shortcut and/or Destination settings:

  1. Log into the KFS Administration Console.
  2. Navigate to Settings | Packages
  3. Click Create
  4. Enter a unique name for the package that will contain the Shortcut and/or Destination settings
  5. Associate the desired Destinations and Shortcuts with the package
  6. Click Export
  7. Click Save As and select the location to which the package file will be saved.

To import Shortcut and/or Destination settings into a KFS environment:

  1. Log into the KFS Administration Console
  2. Navigate to Settings | Packages
  3. Click Import
  4. Browse to the package file location, select it, and click Upload
  5. Click OK
  6. In the General tab, select the desired Import Mode to indicate how Shortcuts and/or Destinations with the same names as existing Shortcuts and/or Destinations are handled.
  7. Click Import

When importing Shortcuts that point to a Kofax Capture Destination into a new KFS environment, the batch class, document class, and form type must exist in Kofax Capture.
