Operation failed Unknown error 0x80005000 when logging into the Thin Client or Administration Console


Question / Problem: 

Attempts to log into the Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 Thin Client or Administration Console result in the following error:

Operation failed. Error: Unknown error (0x80005000)" when attempting to log in

Answer / Solution: 

This error is caused by KFS attempting to contact multiple Active Directory domain controllers for the various subdomains represented in the linked Kofax Capture users and groups when one of the subdomains is not accessible.  This issue has been documented in TFS #755767 and was resolved in Fix Pack 2 for KFS 4.1.1 (KFS 

To resolve this issue, download and install the latest fix pack for KFS 4.1.1, which is available for download from the KFS 4.1 Support Downloads page.
