How to collect Device Logs from a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Multifunction Printer (MFP) device
Solution
Device Logs are generated by the MFP Device itself, outside of the Kofax MFP Client. Device logs often log the interactions between the Kofax MFP Client and the device's internal services, the events that occur within the device's internal processes, and communication between the device's internal processes and the KFS server. Analyzing the Device Logs alongside the Kofax MFP Client logs provides a more complete view of all the activities that occur on the MFP device.
To collect the Device Logs and Device Data file from an HP MFP device:
- Log into the HP MFP device's web interface as administrator
- Select the Information tab
- Select
Job Log
from the menu - To view the details of an individual Job Log entry, select the Job's radio button and click
View Details
- To export the Job Log, click
Export
- Under Filter, select
All Jobs
- Under Save as Type, select
Text (tab delimited)(*.txt)
- Click
Export
- Save the .txt file to the local PC
- In the HP MFP device's web interface, select the Troubleshooting tab
- Select
Diagnostic Data
from the menu - Select
Create device data file
and clickExport
- Save the exported data file to the local PC
