Ricoh MFP Client Cannot Connect to Server Network Problem or Disk Full due to DNS issue

Question / Problem: 

How to resolve the following error in the Kofax Ricoh MFP Client when the MFP cannot resolve the hostname of Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 or 4.3 server using DNS:

Cannot connect to KFS server. There is a network problem, or the disk on the server is full.

Answer / Solution: 

When the Ricoh MFP Client is deployed to the MFP device, KFS points the client to the hostname or Fully Qualified Domain Name of the KFS Server. This issue can occur if the Ricoh MFP device is unable to resolve the hostname or Fully Qualified Domain Name of the KFS server to an IP address using DNS. This typically occurs when the MFP is located outside the domain where the KFS server resides. In such cases it is necessary for the KFS server to identify itself by its IP Address.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Uninstall the Ricoh MFP Client from the MFP device.

  2. Log in to the KFS 4.1 Administration Console.

  3. Navigate to Settings ¦ Advanced.

  4. In the kfs.properties namespace, change the ProxyServer value to the IP address of the KFS server.
    If multiple KFS servers are installed in a clustered environment, enter the IP address of the load balancer or proxy server instead of the IP address of the KFS server itself.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Deploy the Ricoh MFP Client to the desired Ricoh MFP device using the instructions in the Kofax Front Office Server Administrator's Guide for Ricoh MFPs.
