Ricoh MFP Client Cannot Connect to Server Network Problem or Disk Full due to Insufficient Drive Space

Question / Problem:

How to resolve the following error in the Kofax Ricoh MFP Client when either the Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 or 4.3 server does not meet the minimum free drive space requirements:

Cannot connect to server. There is a network problem, or the disk on the server is full.

Answer / Solution:

To prevent any potential data loss due to low drive space, KFS 4.x will refuse new connections from MFP devices, Mobile Devices, and Thin Client stations once the available free space goes below 5 GB on the following drives:

  • The drive on the KFS server where KFS is installed.

  • The Capture Share drive (\CaptureSV).

  • The C: drive on the KFS server

Existing connections will not be cut off, and scans or uploads will continue to be accepted for the duration of the existing connection. Therefore, reducing the threshold to less than 5 GB is not recommended.

To resolve this issue, increase the amount of free space on the affected drive to over 5 GB.
