Ricoh MFP Client Cannot Connect to Server Network Problem or Disk Full when IIS Configured for HTTP only

Question / Problem:

How to resolve the following error in the Kofax Ricoh MFP Client when IIS on the Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 or 4.3 server is not configured for communication using the HTTPS protocol:

Cannot connect to KFS server. There is a network problem, or the disk on the server is full.

Answer / Solution:

This issue can occur if the Ricoh MFP client attempts to connect to the KFS 4.1 server via HTTPS (which is the default behavior), but IIS on the KFS server is configured to communicate via HTTP only.

There are two options available to resolve this issue:

Option 1: Install an SSL Certificate and Configure IIS to use HTTPS

Please refer to Microsoft's documentation for instructions regarding configuring IIS to use an SSL certificate for HTTPS communication.

Option 2: Configure the Ricoh MFP Client to Communicate with the KFS Server Using HTTP

  1. Uninstall the Ricoh MFP Client from the MFP device.

  2. Log in to the KFS Administration Console.

  3. Navigate to Settings ¦ Advanced.

  4. In the namespace, change the ProxyServerProtocol value to http.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Deploy the Ricoh MFP Client to the desired Ricoh MFP device using the instructions in the Kofax Front Office Server Administrator's Guide for Ricoh MFPs.
