Scan button missing from the HP OXPd 1.6 / 1.7 MFP Client Scan screen

Question / Problem:

After successfully deploying/registering the Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.1 HP OXPd 1.6 MFP Client on an HP Multifunction Printer (MFP) device, the Scan button is missing from the client's Scan screen.

Answer / Solution:

The Kofax HP OXPd 1.6 / 1.7 MFP Client displays server-side elements along with MFP-side elements. If Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) is not enabled in the MFP settings, the device will not grant the client access to the MFP-side elements such as the Scan button. Enabling CORS is a requirement documented in the Kofax Front Office Server 4.1 Administration Guide for HP MFPs.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Log in to the MFP device's web interface using its administrator credentials.
  2. Select the Security tab (or the Digital Sending tab on older "Oz" devices).
  3. Select Web Service Security from the menu.
  4. Check the box next to Enable Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) and click Apply.
