Question / Problem:

When attempting to import images into the Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) 4.0 or 4.1 Thin Client, the Browse button is missing from the "Import Page" dialog box.

Answer / Solution:

Adobe Flash Player reached End of Life on December 31, 2020.  On January 12, 2021 Adobe began blocking Flash Player from executing any Flash content.   For more information, see Adobe's Flash Player End of Life General Information Page

If Flash Player is installed on the client PC, KFS 4.1 will attempt to use Flash's file upload utility, which allows users to select multiple files for upload. If Flash Player is not installed, KFS 4.1 will use Internet Explorer's file upload utility, which limits the user to selecting a single file for upload.

If Flash Player is installed, but cannot execute any Flash content, the Browser button cannot be displayed.

To restore the KFS 4.1 Browse button in single-file upload mode, uninstall Adobe Flash Player Active X.

To upload multiple files at a time, Kofax recommends upgrading to KFS 4.3.  KFS 4.3 uses the WebCapture Service for scanning and file import into the KFS 4.3 Thin Client.

Applies to:

Product Version
KFS 4.0
  4.1
