Could not connect error sending reply emails

Question / Problem:

KIC 2.x is configured to respond back to the email sender with a reply email, but the email is never sent to the sender. The Message Connector shows a "could not connect" error.

Why is the email not sent?

Answer / Solution:

If the SMTP port settings and firewall are configured correctly, then check to see if Symantec anti-virus is installed. If it is, check to see if the Email Auto-Protect Feature is enabled. This feature can block SMTP traffic through port 25 and cause this error.

If it is enabled, then disable it or configure it to allow for the proper traffic.
