Restrict Allowed File Formats Prevent Import of Email Body

Article # 3039854 - Page views: 47

Issue

KIC is configured to import emails where it should import attachments as well as email body to create documents for each.

The allow import of destination setting is set to PDF, TIFF, JPG, DOC, DOCX. .EML and .MSG in the tab Importing and conversion under 'Allow Importing Files with format' (Attached document with screenshots of KIC tabs .

When .eml and .msg are included in the Allow Import, the email doesn't contain any body

Solution

The file to be added is .MHT to the whitelist for e-mail bodys containing embedded images:

Since input email MIME has inline image parts that are referred/linked by HTML body(multipart/alternative), complete email body can be represented as MHT (RFC/822 MIME) format file to avoid data(image) loss. So, Email body is saved as MHT as per design.

This file KIC can see when ‘Include Original Content’ is selected. Since “Whitelist feature (Allow importing files with formats)” will allow only file types that are configured as described in Documentation below. So, KIC should also specify MHT extension in WhiteList.

Documentation:

“Allow importing files with formats

Provide a list of file types which you want to allow importing. Kofax Import Connector will only import the specified file types. Each file type should be separated by a space.

For example, if you want to allow importing PNG and TEXT files, specify .png .txt.”.

There is an enhancement request to address it:

Enhancement Request 1777266:Whitelist option for mailbody
