Unauthorized 401 error testing connection to EWS Mailbox

Issue:
I encounter the following error when testing EWS mailbox in Kofax Import Connector 2.3 KC-Plugin Configuration ¦ Connection ¦ Import Connector ¦ Mailbox Import:
Connection to EWS mailbox on https://.../ews/exchange.asmx cannot be established. Error message:The request failed. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized
How can I resolve this issue?
Solution:
It has been observed that changing the User name field in the Mailbox Import setting from username@domainname
to domainname\username
can resolve this issue.
Verify the username and make sure you're using the correct password.
