Article # 301254 - Page views: 94

At first use ‘Internet Explorer 7’ tries to run a setup wizard. It always tries to load this page: ‘’. To successfully complete this wizard, internet access is required.

If you’re not able to grant the machine access to the internet, you can try one of the following possible solutions. First of all make sure that you close all running instances of ‘Internet Explorer’.

Solution 1:

Add/change the following registry key to the registry and start ‘Internet Explorer 7.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] “DisableFirstRunCustomize'=dword:00000001 (hex)

Changing this key should suppress the setup wizard completely. This solution also works for ‘Internet Explorer 8’.

Solution 2:

Add/change the following registry keys to the registry and start ‘Internet Explorer 7’.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] 'RunOnceHasShown'=dword:00000001 (hex) 'RunOnceComplete'=dword:00000001 (hex)

Changing these keys will make ‘Internet Explorer’ believe that this wizard has been completed and it won’t try to start it again.
