Running KCS without local administrator rights
Issue
The administrator of the Kofax Communication Server (KCS) system wants to minimize possible security holes by reducing permissions of e.g. windows users, applications or services to the necessary minimum.
Cause
Administrative permissions are necessary for some KCS modules to work.
Solution
This is documented in our "Kofax Communication Server Environment Guide - Platform System Manual".
Please find the manual for your used version on either https://docshield.kofax.com/ or https://knowledge.kofax.com/
See chapter 4, "Required Windows User Permissions" for more details.
Most server/Link components require administrative rights, clients usually don't.
More information can also be found in other manuals for different modules (for example TCDCLINK may require special permissions, or TCSRV as is documented in the "Service User Manual".)
