Messages going to the MFPs are not using the desired port.

Article # 3036854 - Page views: 23

Issue

IPPrinter is set to use the IPP protocol for sending using the default port 631, but when checking, messages going to the MFPs, port 9100 (the TCP default port) is being used

Cause

Checking the MFP user profile in the TCfW client, found that the Event service is set to use TCP, instead of IPP.

Service = "MFPIN",
Free Address = "duplex=1&transport=tcp&printer=printerIP"

Service = "MFPDEL",
Free Address = "pages=1&duplex=1&transport=tcp&printer=printerIP"

Service = "MFPNDEL",
Free Address = "pages=1&duplex=1&transport=tcp&printer=printerIP"

Solution

The MFPIN, MFPDEL, and MFPNDEL services need to be updated to IPP from TCP.

Service = "MFPIN",
Free Address = "duplex=1&transport=ipp&printer=printerIP/ipp"

Service = "MFPDEL",
Free Address = "pages=1&duplex=1&transport=ipp&printer=printerIP/ipp"

Service = "MFPNDEL",
Free Address = "pages=1&duplex=1&transport=ipp&printer=printerIP/ipp"

With internet printing protocol transport add the postfix “/ipp” to the printer host name or IP address.  Ricoh MFPs require using /printer

If using a different port from the default 631, you can specify port in the address using:

transport=ipp&printer=printerIP:port/ipp

For specific MFP addressing, please refer to the IPPrinter Manual (in references below).
