Forms edited with PDF Converter Professional cannot be filled and saved with Adobe Reader

Forms edited with PDF Converter Professional cannot be filled and saved with Adobe Reader

Problem:

After creating or saving a PDF form with PDF Converter Professional, the form cannot be filled and then saved when opened within Adobe Reader.

Cause:

Adobe Reader is a PDF reading application only. Form data can be entered into a form and printed, but cannot be saved. In the later versions of Adobe professional products (Adobe Acrobat Professional, Livecycle, etc.), the PDF creator can extend rights of the form to users of Reader 8 and later, which allows the user to enter form data and save the document. This is a proprietary functionality of Adobe products.

Solution:

Although extending reader rights of a PDF is proprietary to Adobe products only, Nuance offers the free Nuance PDF Reader available for download. Opening a form in the Nuance PDF Reader will allow the form to be filled and saved, regardless of extended rights being applied to the form.
