Creating and using a RESCUE SPCfgInst.dat file in FraudOne

Article # 3035355 - Page views: 44

Issue

As a FraudOne Administrator configuration changes (made in the Admin Client) can easily lead to the Server Manager (SRVMNGR4.exe) not starting.
The FraudOne Admin Client used to repair the broken configuration can no longer connect to the database. As a FraudOne Administrator, I need a way to recover from issues accessing the Admin Client, repair those issues and restore the original functioning FraudOne application.

Solution

  1. As a FraudOne Administrator I will create the file SPCfgInst.dat when executing the command: SetupCfg.cmd -initlocal RESCUE :2000 FraudOneSB"  where:
  • -initlocal is the parameter to create a new configuration
  • RESCUE is the name that will be visible in the Admin Client configuration topology
  • :2000 is the default port of the configuration (SignBase) server
  • FraudOneSB is the the actual hostname of the configuration server

As a FraudOne Adminstrator I will navigate to the file system location (C:\ProgramData\Kofax\FraudOne) where the SPCfgInst.dat is stored (after creation) and rename the SPCfgInst.dat file to SPCfgInst.RESCUE

=====

2. As a FraudOne Administrator I will now create the file SPCfgInst.dat again when executing the command: SetupCfg.cmd -initlocal F1LOCAL :2000 FraudOneSB"  where:

  • -initlocal is the parameter to create a new configuration
  • F1LOCAL is the name that will be visible in the Admin Client configuration topology
  • :2000 is the default port of the configuration (SignBase) server
  • FraudOneSB is the the actual hostname of the configuration server

As a FraudOne Adminstrator when I navigate to the file system location (C:\ProgramData\Kofax\FraudOne) there is now 2 files stored at this location:  SPCfgInst.dat file and SPCfgInst.RESCUE

NOTE: Leave the SPCfgInst.RESCUE where stored, but also backup SPCfgInst.RESCUE elsewhere.

Important: The SPCfgInst.RESCUE file is created prior to loading the initial configuration workspace.

As a FraudOne Administrator loading the initial configuration workspace is achieved by executing the following command:

SetupCfg.cmd -importworkspace FraudOneBaseConfiguration.zip clear *:* samples:samples

This command is found in the Kofax FraudOne Installation and Migration Guide version 4.5 (https://docshield.kofax.com/Portal/P...k87ey6r/FO.htm).

Using the SPCfgInst.RESCUE file

As a FraudOne Administrator my FraudOne Application configuration is broken and I need to use the SPCfgInst.RESCUE file:

  1. Stop the SRVMNGR4.exe / SignPlus service
  2. Rename the original .dat file to .dat.backup
  3. Rename the .dat.RESCUE to .dat
  4. Start up the SRVMNGR4.exe / SignPlus service again
  5. Repair configuration using Administration Client
  6. Stop the SRVMNGR4.exe / SignPlus service
  7. Rename the .dat rescue file back to .dat.RESCUE
  8. Rename the backup .dat.backup to .dat again
  9. Restart the SRVMNGR4.exe / SignPlus service
