AutoStore Support for OpenText RightFax Server

The purpose of this document is to provide clarity as to the different methods NSi AutoStore may deliver images and associated metadata to the OpenText RightFax server, including functional differences and potential incremental OpenText license fee implications.

Steps and Instructions

NSi AutoStore Native API-based Component

NSi offers a native AutoStore Route component which allows sending documents to users by fax. When the documents being processed in the workflow reaches this component, it sends the documents to the RightFax server where a fax document is created and sent to a specified recipient. The component also allows for the creation of a coversheet for the fax. The component currently supports RightFax server versions 9.0, 9.3, and 9.4. The RightFax client software should be installed on the machine with Workflow Server for correct work of the component.

Advantages: Direct API-level connect between the AutoStore server and the RightFax server that allows for exception handling BY AUTOSTORE for connections that fail. No additional software licenses required by OpenText.

Limitations: Currently, this NSi developed Route component does not support user impersonation, THUS the images are routed from the AutoStore server to the RightFax server via the AutoStore Service Account. What's more, notification of delivery FROM RIGHTFAX is also not supported.

XML-based Delivery

For situations where impersonation and/or notification of delivery are required, AutoStore can also deliver images and associated metadata to the RightFax server via XML. This XML integration requires a RightFax MFD XML Module to be installed and licensed on the RightFax Server by the customer. This OpenText-developed software allows for the pickup and processing of the incoming XML metadata (in the RightFax XML Schema) and images. Per the OpenText EULA, a RightFax MFD XML Module license is required for each MFD enabled for potential scanning of fax document to the AutoStore Service for subsequent routing to the RightFax server.

Advantages: "Impersonation" of the sender is supported, notifications as well. Successful fax delivery notifications are delivered from the RightFax server not the AutoStore server.

Limitations: OpenText requires an additional RightFax MFD XML Module license is required for each MFD device enabled for potential scanning of fax document to the AutoStore Service for subsequent routing to the RightFax server. With this method there is no confirmation that the message was PICKED UP BY RIGHTFAX AND dispatched, AutoStore only knows that the XML and image were delivered to the import folder.

New NSi Component in Development

NSi is currently developing an improved version of the native API-based Component which will provide both impersonation and delivery notification support with no additional OpenText software license requirement for the customer. Successful fax delivery notifications are delivered from the RightFax server not the AutoStore server. This new Route component will be included in AutoStore 6.1, scheduled for release in September 2012. Should a customer need this API component in advance of the GA release of AutoStore 6.1, please contact NSi Support as a beta is currently available.
