Comparison between ECSP and EIP on card registration

Article # 3029707 - Page views: 304

Question / Problem:

What is the difference between ECSP and EIP when auto-register is enabled in the system?

Answer / Solution:

Using ECSP:

The embedded side will ask for a Username, to assign the card to. If the Username entered for the card registration already exists in Equitrac, then the new card number gets assigned to the existing user this way. If the Username entered for the card registration does not yet exist in Equitrac, then card registration fails and no user gets created.

Using EIP:

The embedded side will ask for a Username and a password, to assign the card to.If the Username entered for the card registration already exists in Equitrac, then the new card number can be assigned to the existing user this way.If the Username entered for the card registration does not yet exist in Equitrac, the CAS creates the new user and assigns the new card number to it.t.

Note:

All this happens because for the EIP case, the DCE instructs the embedded to ask for username AND password every time, while for the ECSP case, the DCE instructs the embedded to ask for Username only, if asking for a password is set to “Never” in the system.
