Question / Problem:
How to manage Windows printer when recovering from an Output Manager outage
Answer / Solution:
When a print does not occur after recovering from an Output Manager outage, set the documents that are in an incomplete and error state to Hold.
- Open Windows Print Management and go to the Print Servers > (local) print server name > Printers
- Set the printers that have Jobs In Queue to Paused
- Start the OM services
- Enable any OM sources that are supposed to be enabled
- Once the OM services have started and enabled, right-click a Windows printer and choose Resume Printing
- At first, choose a couple of the printers that have a small number of documents in queue to confirm they are successful in sending documents into Output Manager
- Resume Printing on the Windows printer with the largest number of documents in queue
- Finish going through the Windows printers until no documents are left in any of the Windows print queues
