Nuance Ethernet Card Reader temperature

Nuance Ethernet Card Readers may feel hot to the touch for some users, however there is no burn hazard to end users, neither a fire hazard.   When powered from PoE the readers run approximately 26 degrees Celcius above the ambient temperature, so in a 25 °C room the reader's surface may be 51 °C.

While this feels quite warm to the average user, the IEC 60590-1 safety standard places a limit of 85C for brief contact to a non-metallic surface, or 71C for 60 seconds of continuous contact. The temperature is still well under both limits.
