How to Create a New ODBC Connection to Equitrac After Moving the SQL Server

In Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express, how do you create a new ODBC connection to the Core Accounting Server (CAS) after moving the SQL server to a new location? To create a new ODBC connection, perform the following steps on the Equitrac server:

1. Under Administrator Tools, open Data Sources (OBDC).

2.  Click the System DSN tab.

3.  If the EQCAS data source is NOT listed, skip to step 8.

4.  If the EQCAS data source IS listed, highlight it and click the Configure button.

5.  In the Server field, enter the machine name and instance name to connect to.  Use the format "\machine name\instance name."

6.  Leaving all settings as displayed, click the Next button several times until the Test Data Source button appears.

7.  Click the Test button to verify that the connection is valid.  If the test fails, review the configuration to find the issue.  If the test is successful, click the OK button to save the change.

8.  To create a new EQCAS data source, complete the applicable fields in the configuration wizard. 

9.  When the Test Data Source button appears, click it to verify the connection is valid.  If the test fails, review the configuration to find the issue.  If the test is successful, click the OK button to save the change.
