After installing the Equitrac Workstation Client on a Windows 8 or 8.1 or 10 workstation none of the popup features are functional.
Also, local print tracking and i-Queue also does not function.
Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 have a secure boot feature enabled by default. This feature, known as The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), will block certain features of the Equitrac Workstation Client.
Local print tracking, pop-ups and DRC i-Queue will not function on Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 OS with secure boot enabled.
To resolve this issue, UEFI Secure Boot must be disabled on Equitrac Office or Express 5.3 and earlier.
Note: UEFI can be left enabled if using Equitrac Office or Express 5.4 (or later) with latest WinClient hotfix installed.
Disable UEFI secure boot in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10
While it is fairly straight forward to access BIOS settings (press F10 or F12 at boot time) it is not the same case with UEFI. To access UEFI settings, do so from within Windows.
Step 1: Go to PC settings
Open the settings charms in Windows by pressing Windows+I keys. At the bottom, click on the option of Change PC settings.
Step 2: Go to Advanced startup
There will be a slight difference in PC settings for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Depending upon which one being used, follow the respective procedure described below:
Windows 8: In Windows 8, go to General PC settings and select Advanced startup and then click on Restart now:
Window 8.1: In Windows 8.1, go to Update and recovery from left sidebar. Then click Restart now under Advanced startup:
Windows 10: Refer to Microsoft documentation.
Step 3: Access UEFI settings
After Restart, some options will be presented to choose from. Select "Troubleshoot here":
In Troubleshoot menu, select Advanced options:
In Advanced options menu, choose UEFI Firmware settings:
Next, click on Restart button to reboot the system in UEFI settings which may have a similar interface as BIOS.
Step 4: Disable secure boot in UEFI
Move to Boot tab, there Secure Boot option can be seen which is set to enabled. Use the arrow key to go to Secure Boot option and then press enter to select it. Use + or - to change its value. Confirm when prompted. Press F10 to save the changes and exit the UEFI settings.
