With Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express, how or when does Equitrac generate the SSL certificate?
The self-signed SSL certificate is generated, if necessary, when the first Equitrac service on the machine that allows SSL connections starts.
"if necessary" means at least one of the following is true:
- The certificate does not exist already.
- The certificate exists, but has expired.
- The private key corresponding to the certificate cannot be accessed by the service.
With the release of Equitrac Office and Equitrac Express 4.1.1, the Equitrac server has the ability to import an SSL certificate and become a trust site. This eliminates the need for the creation of self-signed SSL certificates at the client level.
