EO/EE 5.4 - Unable to scan using Fuji-Xerox ECSP when Location is set in CentreWare
Problem Statement:
When user uses Equitrac and Fuji-Xerox device to accesses the ECSP scan features (i.e. Scan-To-Me, Scan to email or Scan to folder), after pressing the scan button the user gets the an error and the scan fails.
English error:
A Scan is processing in the background, or a device error has occurred. To resolve a device error, please lift the lid and select C or Start to continue, or try scanning later.
Japanese error:
??????????????
???????????????????????????????????????
This issue could occur if the Location field within CentreWare Internet Services > Properties > Description page contained certain double bytes characters i.e. Japanese characters, and on the Equitrac DWS server the Language for non-Unicode programs setting under [Control Panel > Region and Language > Administrative -> Language for non-Unicode programs -> Change System locale] is set to something other than English (i.e. Japanese).
Workaround:
There are two known workarounds:
1) In the Location field within CentreWare Internet Services > Properties > Description page, either clear out the value or use English characters, or
2) On the Equitrac DWS server Change the Language for non-Unicode programs setting under [Control Panel > Region and Language > Administrative -> Language for non-Unicode programs -> Change System locale] to English
Resolution:
For Equitrac Office / Equitrac Express 5.4, hotfix 9286-EQ54-HF-305609-DWS allows for double-byte (i.e. Japanese) characters to be used in the Location field.
For other versions, please use the workaround.
This fix will be included in a future release of the Equitrac software.
