Along with creating the Equitrac group, the Equitrac print client also writes to this registry key:
32 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Appinit_DLLs64 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Appinit_DLLs
In this key are supposed to be the paths for EQDtpSpy.dll and EQPortMonitorSpy.dll. These are the DLLs that are launched with every application to track printing.
Have the client open the registry and browse to the key above and verify that the user has full rights to this key. In one instance we found that the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows key was inaccessable causing this error. After the firm's administrator corrected the rights on that key in the registry, the print client installed correctly and worked fine.
