How to check for changes that need to be made to a client's print popup configuration after upgrading to EP5.7

Problem Statement:

How to check for changes that need to be made to a client's print popup configuration when upgrading to EP5.7.

Cause:

The precedence rules governing print popups have changed with EP 5.7.

Resolution:

In the Popup Style configuration, the "Hide Mode Value" field cannot be blank if the "Required" and "Server Validation" options are set to Yes.

If the Popup behavior MAY be shown or hidden based on the configuration details in the Popup's rules and/or User/Device/Application Class settings, a valid entry must be defined in the Hide Mode Value for each validation field in the Popup Style. This is because all validation fields included in the popup style, by default, have "Required" and "Server Validation" enabled. This is in order to force entry of only valid data in those fields. Un-checking the "Required" and "Server Validation" options on validated fields when the popup may be displayed may cause unintended exceptions as it will allow entry of blank or invalid data.

If the Popup is ALWAYS hidden, you may set the Required & Server Validation options to No for each validation field, which will allow blank values in the validation fields and allow the Popup to always be hidden.

To check for the hide mode values in a system's popup styles:

1.     In System Manager in the left pane, click the hyperlink for Popup Styles.

2.     In the right pane, click the hyperlink for the popup style you are reviewing.

3.     Highlight the each validation field required for the popup style.

4.     Check the values in the right grid against the settings described in this article and double-click the field to adjust accordingly.

5.     Click OK to save any changes.

In the example attached to this article, if any settings in the popup style or the user/device/application classes include hiding the popup, a Hide mode value needs to be added for both the client and the matter fields.
