Can an Equitrac Professional 5 System collect telephone data from a TCP/IP port?
Question:
Can an Equitrac Professional 5 System collect telephone data from a TCP/IP port?
Answer:
EP5 can collect phone data serially via a call buffer, via a flat file, or directly from ODBC compliant database via an ODBC connection. We cannot collect data directly from a TCP/IP port.
If a client purchases a new telephone system, it is the responsibility of the telephone vendor to provide data via one of the acceptable methods.
If the telephone system can only send data from a TCP/IP port, the phone vendor can use a third-party hardware device that can capture data stream and output it via a serial port to the Equitrac buffer, or the vendor can install a software solution to capture the data stream to a file. Equitrac does not provide or support any such products.
One hardware vendor that provides a hardware product that clients have used to capture this data to a serial port is Perle Products. https://www.perle.com
Avaya also offers their own proprietary software tool to capture the CDR data from their phone systems to a local file.
